Shipping containers have been a popular base for tiny homes for years, but I am always excited to see different takes on this type of home. In this tour, I am excited to share with you a two story shipping container tiny home that is a vacation destination from The Box Hop. This luxury destination includes your favorite tiny home elements with a luxury wooded destination.

The exterior of this shipping container home has a slightly retro look that is sleek, clean, and perfect for those who like simple lines. Once you step inside, you’ll find a combination of modern and retro elements to create a beautiful space that while narrow, feels large with tall ceilings and that upper bedroom level.
The narrow layout of a shipping container can make creating a homey feeling difficult, but this designer did a fabulous job making this feel warm and welcoming.
On one side of the space is the galley kitchen complete with a full-sized refrigerator and 4-burner gas range. The opposite side of the space includes the stairs up to the loft bedroom as well as a cute little hidden bench and storage space.
One of my favorite parts of this kitchen is in the farmhouse accents that feel vintage but modern all at the same time. The stove is modern but has a vintage style, and the deep farmhouse sink feels like it is a look back in time.
Behind the counter is a long window giving you stunning views outside, but the backsplash is the real show stopper. This honeycomb style tile is so simple and cute. It’s both vintage with the basic white tile but modern with the uneven borders that look like natural honeycomb.
Even though this is a vacation destination, the layout of the kitchen is perfect for cooking any meal you want. The counter space is limited but there is more than enough space to whip up any of your favorite meals.
Of course, having all of those drawers an cabinets means you can tuck away cookware in seconds, but there is also plenty of room for food storage!
At the end of the kitchen is my favorite vintage addition. This cute little wood burning stove is perfect for heating this space. Plus, it’s standing on the continuation of that honeycomb tile pattern. So cute and cozy! A perfect place to settle in with a favorite book at the end of the day.
They did not add traditional cabinets above the kitchen counter, but there is a single floating shelf above the window that is ideal for holding your plates, glasses, and bowls. I love the simplicity of this to help add plenty of extra storage.
At the end of the counter is the refrigerator, and you can use it as well if desired, for additional storage. Don’t worry, this has modern conveniences. Just take note of that TV hanging above the refrigerator!
On the other side of the kitchen is the stairway up to the loft bedroom. Below this space, however, it isn’t wasted space at all. There are shelves taking up much of the extra space. These are perfect for knick knacks and decor, but could also house books, movies, music, or even additional dishware for the kitchen.
Below these, is my favorite part of this space. A simple little bench is a seat as well as storage. I love that you can use all of these nooks and crannies to hold items out of sight until needed!
At the end of the shipping container is a cozy little dining table and window seat. This could be a living area with a sofa, but I love that they used these little benches to create a cute little space for enjoying a meal with your family.
These benches double as storage and include plenty of comfortable seating so you could enjoy a favorite game of cards or a simple breakfast if you wanted.
Looking back past the kitchen you will notice a door on the other end of the home. This is your bathroom, which we’ll look at a bit later. You will also notice the doors are large and open bringing in extra light.
Up the stairs is the bedroom, and it’s perhaps my favorite part of this home.
When you walk upstairs, you find this small added second floor that is just the bedroom. This is a small space, so nothing extra here, but the surrounding windows, skylights, and elevation above the rest of the home make it a unique addition.
I love the idea of waking up to that gorgeous view! Plus, the two sun lights add a perfect place to look up at the stars at night. What more could you want in a lovely romantic getaway?
One of my favorite pictures of this space is from the loft looking down. This shows the space in such a unique light. It helps you see just how large a small space can feel when you layout things in the right way.
Also, you can see in the upper corner of the picture below, that the loft bedroom also has it’s own private balcony. What a lovely place to enjoy your morning cup of coffee!
Back downstairs you have to take a moment to check out the bathroom. This space may be one of the most unique but beautiful parts of this home. I absolutely adore the retro style in this space!
The vanity has that retro mid century modern feel and the large floral wallpaper with round mirror flow right with that theme beautifully. Of course, you can’t leave out the absolutely stunning door! This live wood edged door is spectacular.
The tiny honeycomb tile on the floor is another gorgeous addition to the space. I adore how this looks and that it matches that look of honeycomb in the kitchen.
The shower here is another unique addition. Of course, there is the large sunlight above that is one of my favorite additions in any room. The other addition I love is this gold accent shower head and fixtures. So pretty!
Stepping outside you will see clean lines of the white corrugated metal siding and the wood accents around the roof line. Solid black trim around windows and on the roof line pop against the otherwise ordinary look of the exterior.
A two story shipping container home is a beautiful place to enjoy your next vacation. From the beautiful balcony overlooking the forest to the twinkle light accents around the home, it’s ideal for a romantic getaway.
Another view of this home shows a simple walkway with solar lights along each side. This makes what might otherwise feel secluded a bit less dark at night. No worries here with so many windows and lights all around!
