The Vipp Shelter Is a Tiny Minimalist Sanctuary

“If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?” That is the question posed on The Vipp Shelter’s website. The Vipp Shelter itself was designed to offer an answer. This tiny house can be placed in any setting—urban, suburban, or rural. No matter where it stands, it offers a tranquil reprieve, a retreat where the spirit can be renewed and life can unfold in a simpler way.

Interestingly enough, Vipp is a company which has been around for quite a long time—since 1939. The company produces steel products. As you might guess, the Vipp Shelter is a tiny house constructed from steel.

The shelter is a wide open space, essentially a box that sits a few feet off the ground on stilts. It features enormous glass windows—essentially glass walls. The furniture, like the structure itself, is sparse, modern, and sophisticated. The same Vipp steel which was used in construction is also found in the interior.

Imagine sitting down at this table to read a book, work, or just enjoy a mug of tea while gazing out at that beautiful lake.

The bedroom has huge skylights overhead, so you can gaze up at the trees and the stars while you are falling asleep. In the morning, sunlight streams in, greeting you as you in turn greet the new day.

The entire structure is only 55 square meters. It weighs 25 tons, and can comfortably accommodate two people. Heating is provided through the dry-pressed ceramic floor as well as the fireplace. As you might guess, all the furnishings and appliances inside like the lamps and table are Vipp products.

If you want to experience what it is like inside the Vipp Shelter, you can. Vipp actually allows a few people to book a stay each year in the shelter. The first step to qualify is to sign up for the company’s newsletter. See the official Vipp Shelter page.
