This Tranquil Little Cottage is Anyone’s Dream House

Published: Feb 1, 2020 by itiny · This post may contain affiliate links ·

For those planning a vacation in the Lake Placid area in New York, this two-bedroom cottage offers the chance to experience what it is like to live in a small home along with greater conveniences and amenities than you might be used to on vacation.

On the same premises, you’ll also find a tiny studio cottage—I will share that with you in a separate article.

It is actually a historical retreat considering that its construction dates back to 1924. But you wouldn’t guess that looking at it, as it has been fully renovated and has a contemporary appearance today.

The walls, as well as much of the décor in the cottage, are white. This is both a trendy look and an effective one for keeping a small building from appearing cluttered or cramped.

With two bedrooms, each featuring a queen-sized bed, up to four people can sleep comfortably without resorting to the couch. Nevertheless, the owners to say that the cottage can accommodate up to six people.

There is a French door between the two bedrooms. So, while they are separated, they are not entirely. So, the house is ideal for group stays.

A long table allows a number of people to comfortably dine together.

Included in the kitchen are a dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, refrigerator, microwave, oven, and cooktop. For aspiring tiny house chefs who want to give cooking in a small space a whirl before committing to the tiny lifestyle, a stay at a small cottage like this is a great way to test drive the possibilities.

There is a old-fashioned silver-leaf claw foot bathtub and shower in the bathroom next to the toilet. A blow dryer is available so that you do not need to pack your own. So is an iron and ironing board as well as towels and linens.

A couple of cozy couches are in the living room along with a unique coffee table.

While décor is kept to a minimum so as not to clutter the interior, every touch adds artistry and welcome to the home.

In any season, a stay at this lovely cottage looks like a warm and inviting prospect.

Additional features include a barbecue, audio engine wireless speakers, air-conditioning, a washer and dryer unit, a Philips flat screen TV, Spectrum Cable TV, free wireless internet, an outdoor fire pit, and HBO and Netflix. The yard is fenced in to give you additional privacy.

Technically, this is not a tiny house, but rather a small house, measuring around 1,000 square feet.

So, you have around twice as much space as you would in a larger tiny house. But many of the same layout principles are at play here.

The location of this small cottage puts you within 10 minutes of skiing and snowboarding locations. You also have a view of the mountains, and you are located close to golf courses as well. Given its location, amenities, and the size of the house, the cost per night ranges between $225 off season to $495 on season. There are also weekly and monthly rates available for booking long-term stays. You can find out more or reserve your stay here. Don’t forget to also look into the studio cottage at the same location!
