From the outside, it looks like nothing special, right? Just a VW bus like any other. But it isn’t a bus like any other—it is home to designer Nils Holger Moormann, whose unique approach to minimalist tiny design knows no bounds. Let’s check it out.
That is one mighty posh interior! Who would have thought there would be a functional kitchen in such a small space? There is a stovetop, a sink, cabinets, and everything. The surfaces are scratch-resistant and can be wiped clean with ease.
The paneling you see on the ceiling is made out of oiled oak. Oak was also used for the floorboards. Rubber seams integrated into the flooring prevent slips and falls. The light color of the wood contrasts with the dark grey of the cabinets, providing definition to the tiny interior.
You wouldn’t think it is possible, but there is even more storage right next to the kitchen. As to the sofa bed, it is raised to allow extra storage, and has a mattress big enough for two. I have seen tiny house lofts which look more cramped than this. This truly is incredible.
There is no denying that it would be a challenge to cook in this little kitchen, but it would also be a delight being able to be so self-contained.
There is a single control panel which can be used in order to check on the battery, turn on or off the LED lights, see the status of the gas and fresh water, and manage the main switch.
The recessed lights in the shelves not only help you find what you are looking for, but also help to make the space look less cluttered. They bring a special touch of style and elegance.
This stool which you see here behind the passenger seat has a surprising feature, and that is that it is magnetically locked in place. That paintbrush which is attached to it is also magnetically held in place.
There is plenty of room in the drawers for all the cutlery that Nils could need.
There is even enough storage for a bicycle in the van. Who would think that would be possible without intruding on the living area? Yet Nils has made it happen.
Of course, no comfortable tiny home would be complete without some kind of showering option. To take care of that need, Nils has an outdoor shower which includes a rod showerhead and a tent for privacy.
