In North Portland, there’s a unique purple tiny house with a creative floor plan that we think is a great idea for smaller homes!
It’s privately owned and no square footage was given, but it’s a single-level home with one bedroom and bathroom with a separate kitchen and living room.
The cool thing is that the house forms an “L” shape with one leg made up by the kitchen and living room and the other the bedroom and bathroom. The “L” opens up to a huge deck with access from every area of the home.Inside, some of the walls and the ceiling are made of knotty pine which was kept natural while most of the walls were painted white to keep the interior light and bright.
Lighting fixtures and windows make sure that the home doesn’t get too dark with all of the wood.
The kitchen has open shelving on top and beautiful wood cabinets below the wood countertops.
Stainless-steel appliances including a full-sized stove and oven and dishwasher make sure you can cook a full meal with no trouble at all.
The living room completes this side of the “L” and is large enough for a dining table, couch, and more furniture.
We love the warmth that the wood accent wall brings the room. You can also see the reclaimed hardwood floors in this picture.
This side of the house is nice and open making it perfect for entertaining.
The other side of the “L” has the bedroom and bathroom as well as another access to the deck outside.
The bedroom is completely open to the rest of the house but you still have privacy thanks to the bend in the floorplan.
The bedroom has a large panoramic window and the same warm wood ceiling. There’s plenty of room for a bed plus furniture.
The bathroom is painted bright orange for an unexpected pop of color which we think is a fun surprise. We also love the clawfoot tub and could just imagine soaking in it!
This funhouse has us rethinking floorplans and maybe even colors!
If you’re building a permanent tiny house, you may take a tip or two from this purple powerhouse and consider the benefits of an open but separate layout.
