Over the past few years, a lot more tiny houses have appeared on the market, and some of them are astonishingly good deals. One which particularly caught my eye is this custom model located in Bowling Green, Kentucky, currently on sale for $48,500. The price dropped recently, but I’d be surprised if it drops again—it already looks like a steal.
For me, this house is love at first sight. This overhead view of the kitchen is simply breathtaking. The walls and the ceiling are made from pine with contrasting trim around the windows and door. The floor is also made of lovely hardwood.
Amenities in the kitchen include a stainless steel sink, a stainless steel microwave oven which works through convection, and a fridge and freezer unit measuring 9 cubic feet.
That customized staining you see on the ceiling was all done by hand. The contrasting colors turn it into a work of art. I can’t imagine how many compliments the ceiling alone would get from visitors!
In this photo, you can see more beautiful wood, including a sliding barn door between the bathroom and main living space. Barn doors like these are popular inside tiny houses for their rustic appeal as well as their space-saving attributes. Can you imagine what it would be like waking up each morning in the loft to the sight of that beautiful ceiling above?
Here is a photo at the level of the loft so that you can picture it even better. Take a look at all that floor space! You would have room here to set up some shelves if you wanted, or you could just leave it all wide open.
It appears the bed can be raised up to expose a small storage area underneath. The bed, by the way, is a queen size, and comes with a memory foam mattress.
The couch is custom-designed, and can be used as a sleeping space if needed. Underneath it, there is a lot of room for storage.
Here is what the couch looks like when it is in its other configuration:
The bathroom is lovely, and has a classic look to it.
The dark wood contrasts beautifully with the light walls. There is an RV-style toilet, a shower with a glass door, and of course the vanity and shelves you see in these photos.
