When you think about tree houses, what do you picture? I usually think about a plank of wood nailed up in some branches outside a suburban house, maybe with a couple of walls, and if the kid is lucky, a roof.
But tree houses aren’t just for kids! There are some companies out there right now which specialize in designing elegant, functional tree houses which are ideal for children or grown-ups.
One particularly grown-up design is the Fibonacci Tree House from Blue Forest. This beauty is a far cry from the tree houses of your childhood. Let’s take a look!
The tree house is named for its shape, which was derived by the Fibonacci spiral which is common in nature. You can see that it also in some sense resembles a hollowed-out log laying on its side. It looks a lot more like a minimalist tiny house than a traditional tree house, doesn’t it?
See the little basket on the post on the right? That basket can be used to easily raise and lower items from the ground. That way you do not need to carry everything up or down from the tree house by hand.
Some elements of the house are evocative of a childlike, playful atmosphere—like the ropes forming the sides of this bridge.
The interior of the tree house is all grown-up however. The contemporary setting features sophisticated modern design elements like a wall which curves up to form the ceiling and large glass doors which flood the room with sunlight. There is a functional kitchenette along one wall.
The doors can be pulled to one side in an accordion fashion to completely open up the wall. The view of the Spanish forest outside looks incredible.
The top deck has a secret …
… A stainless steel slide!
I know. It looks amazing. It measures a full 23 meters. The architect writes that it was built for “Big Kids,” so I am assuming the size is suitable for adults as well as (older) children. Apparently it deposits you right near a bar and outdoor theater on the client’s property.
Personally I think this is one of Blue Forest’s coolest tiny tree house designs yet—and that is saying something, because their whole portfolio is just bursting with awesomeness. Check out more on their website.
