If you don’t think “modern” and “cozy” can describe the same home, we’re about to prove you wrong with this next tiny house by Quebec builder Ma Maison Logique. This 700 square foot home is surrounded by a winter wonderland most of the year so it was given extra insulation and built to be energy efficient. From the outside, it doesn’t look like this home could be considered warm and cozy with its sharp edges and plain appearance but just wait until we go inside!
Inside, the home has knotty pine flooring with warm neutral walls throughout the open floorplan. Natural light streams in through the windows and glass doors to help warm up the home and keep it feeling airy and bright.
Tall ceilings and high windows make the home feel spacious while unique light fixtures give it a fun flair.
The living room is surrounded by tall windows and sliding glass doors with a cozy wood burning fireplace in the corner. There’s plenty of room in the area for a large couch and separate chairs for guests to warm up around the fire.
The kitchen is across from the living room with a dining table separating the two spaces. A large light fixture hangs over the table providing more definition to the dining area.
The kitchen is simple but you do have a full-sized refrigerator and stove/oven combo. And while we don’t think it has a sink, there’s a bathroom nearby.
Off of the living area are doors leading to bedrooms and the bathroom. The loft is overhead and it’s reached by a ladder against the wall between the doorways.
Pocket doors were chosen over traditional doors or even sliding barn doors to conserve space.
The two downstairs bedrooms are both large with multiple windows and tall ceilings giving the room a spacious feeling.
Upstairs, the loft has a mid-level wall for privacy and protection. There’s plenty of room for a bed in the loft or it could be used for storage or lounging.
We love the open and simple feeling of this modern home and the way the designer made every inch count by eliminating hallways and doors.
