Mobile Mitten Tiny Homes is a new tiny house design firm located in Corunna, MI. The company has just completed work on its first tiny house on wheels, and they are off to an incredible start!
Below, you can watch a video of the house:
Here you can see the house in a Michigan setting which Mobile Mitten describes quite well on their site as “a vast expanse of verdant forest, punctuated and surrounded by sapphire blue lakes … This is the backdrop that inspires us to create dwellings that invite you to enjoy the outdoors, while tempting you back to their comfort and luxury.”
It is easy to see that inspiration in the design of the house. Like the sapphire lake behind it, it is a blue gem of beauty and delight. Measuring 30 feet in length, it weighs in just shy of 10,000 pounds. This provides plenty of clearance for the 14,000 pound limit of the trailer it rests on. There is a lifetime guarantee on the steel siding as well as a 40-year guarantee on the paint. PVC was used for the trim. This material can stand up to a harsh climate without showing wear and tear.
There are 200 square feet of living space in this tiny house. Here you can see the kitchen and the living room. The large Andersen windows bringing in the light are made of tempered glass.
The floor is made of vinyl planks, which are waterproof. This can be super helpful during Michigan winters. Tiny houses aren’t exactly equipped with mudrooms, so this is a smart design choice. Speaking of cold winters, this house can stay warm (or cool) thanks to a Pioneer ductless mini-split. Other features include a propane tank-less water heater and energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the home.
A simple, neutral color scheme gives the home a broad appeal. The cabinets and appliances in the kitchen have a contemporary vibe. Check out the cool handles on the IKEA drawers.
In the kitchen, you will find a propane stove, a spacious sink with a pull-down faucet, and a 7.3 cubic foot fridge and freezer. One particularly neat feature is the exterior venting hood; this feature draws steam or smoke from cooking right out of the home, keeping the air inside fresh.
I can tell you from my own experiences preparing food in a tiny kitchen that this is a fabulous feature. Smoke gets trapped easily in my house, and it can get to be pretty irritating to the eyes and lungs. I would love to have a ventilation feature like this!
A rustic sliding door leads from the kitchen through to the bathroom.
The living room looks super cozy! It looks like there is also plenty of wall space to install a flat-screen TV across from the couch at a comfortable viewing height. The house already has a TV in the “bedroom” (more on that shortly), but you have options here.
In the bathroom, you will find a dual flush toilet as well as a shower and tub. This is also where you can do your laundry in the combined washer/dryer. Additionally, there is a closet and storage underneath the bathroom floor. And what’s really cool is that there is an outlet waiting for you inside the closet. You can use this for your beard trimmer, hair straightener, etc.
Now to show off one of the most amazing space-saving features in the home …
Check it out! All you have to do is press a button, and an elevator bed lowers down into the living room, transforming it into a bedroom! You can see that the Samsung 40” 4K smart TV that I mentioned before is right across from the bed. This would be perfect for cozy nights of binging.
The bed includes shelving on both sides to provide you with some convenient storage space, plus a plug you can use to charge up your smartphone. Lights are built in as well so you can read in bed.
What really makes this home a special one is the attention to detail which was put into every aspect of its design. Everything from the materials to the appliances were selected with great care in order to facilitate ease of living in a small space. All appliances and electronics are included in the $57,000 price.
