Last year, I shared the Auburn Cabin with you. Located at Sharbot Lake, Ontario, the Auburn Cabin is a tiny house resort from Cabinscape which you can rent for $139 a night. Since then, Cabinscape has expanded to a few other locations in Ontario and now offers several more beautiful tiny house cabins to rent, one of which is the Mason Cabin.
The Mason Cabin is located in Mountain Grove, Ontario. On weeknights, it can be booked for just $121 a night. It takes its name from Bill Mason, a famous Canadian naturalist.
Surrounded by 576 acres of Ontario woods and marshes, this cabin offers expansive views through its vast windows. Staying in this cabin means having access to all of the comforts of indoor living, but without any real separation from the beauty of the wild.
The tiny cabin is located conveniently right next to 10 kilometers of hiking trails which you can take to explore your surroundings.
The emphasis inside the cabin is all on what’s outdoors. Furnishings are simple and sparse, but really all you need to be comfortable. A live edge bar under a wide window provides you with a beautiful view as you sit and eat, work, or relax. The large window next to the bed reaches almost as far down as the mattress. Sleeping there would be almost like camping, except that you’re sheltered from the elements.
The countertop is small, but still gives you a little room to prepare food. The large sink and high faucet make washing dishes easy even in a tiny space.
The kitchen also features a 4-burner cooktop and a fridge and freezer, and includes some basic dishes and cutlery. Need to pick up ingredients? Drive 26 minutes to the nearby town of Sharbot Lake to grab whatever you need. If you are interested in taking a longer drive through the beautiful rugged countryside, you can arrive at the historical village of Perth inside of 50 minutes.
Now, if you’ve been imagining the view out that window on the right, sitting at the bar, here it is …
I know … it’s even more gorgeous than you imagined, right?
Along with hiking, you can enjoy boating on the lake.
Or you can eat a picnic on the patio.
Along with a kitchen and comfortable living space, Mason Cabin features an indoor composting toilet and an indoor shower. Insulated walls and a propane heater keep you warm even during the cold Canadian winters. If harsh weather keeps you indoors, you can enjoy a selection of puzzles, board games, and cards.
There’s no wi-fi, but is that really a bad thing? Not necessarily. Personally, I think I’d be grateful not to be able to get online. You are really getting away from it all when you’re out here.
For just $121 a night, the Mason Cabin really is a great deal. It’s amazing the features which have been packed into just 160 square feet. Because the cabin is so tiny, it can only accommodate up to two adults, but there is also a bed available for a toddler or baby. You can bring your dog if you wish as well.
