Wouldn’t it be cool if there were a little place all of your own in your backyard where you could escape from the hectic frenzy of everyday life? Enter “The Escape Pod” from Podmakers.
The Escape Pod is a very cool and futuristic little structure which looks a bit like an egg with shingles. It rests on a platform which is itself raised half a meter above the ground, and has a plug door like that which you would find on an aircraft. Let’s check it out!
A small ladder leads up into the pod.
Inside, the pod looks very cozy, thanks to the inclusion of a furnace. Put some warm blankets and cozy pillows along the seats and you have a great little spot to hang out on your own or catch up with friends or family. Storage is built right into the walls to save space. Long vertical windows let in lots of light.
There is room in here for a table/desk.
This just makes me want to kick off my shoes, lay back on the bench with a good book, and while away the time.
Looking up toward the ceiling, you can gaze out through the skylight up at the sky. This would be awesome for camping out at nighttime. You could look up at the stars.

Here it is with it closed:
Underfloor heating is available in addition to or as an alternative to the woodburner.
The space is also configurable. There are four recommended basic configurations:
Garden Room
This configuration includes a folding table and a circular bench with enough seating for up to ten people. This is the best option for entertaining.
Office
With this configuration, there are two desks and chairs along with power sockets and integrated storage.
Snug
This is a bedroom configuration which includes a raised 2.1 x 2 m mattress spanning the center of the tiny room. Clothing hooks and storage compartments are optional. If you dream of looking up at the stars in your backyard, you could not pick a better configuration.
Studio
If you want a cross between the Office and Snug configurations, Studio is your best bet. With this layout, you have a desk on one side and a small day bed on the other, perfect for work and relaxation.
In most cases, the pod is pre-assembled entirely in a workshop and then delivered to the site and installed using either a crane or a forklift. If a site cannot be reached using a forklift or a crane, the team can bring the components and assemble them directly at the location. If you want your own Escape Pod, the starting price is £19,800.
