Keith Lasseigne is a foster dad for dogs and he just so happens to be a designer also. So, when he decided he and his foster dogs needed a weekend retreat, he created a contemporary tiny house out of unassuming shipping containers and the finished product was unbelievable!
His multi-level home was so impressive that it was featured on HGTV’s “Contain Homes” show. Complete with a rooftop deck and plenty of space for his dogs to run, this house has gorgeous wood accents that look modern against the sleek metal siding of the containers.
The inside of the home is surprisingly bright with white walls and sliding glass doors that let natural light flood in. A long fireplace is along one wall of the living room under a large flat screen TV both of which can be enjoyed from the full-sized sofa.
Dark hardwood floors are throughout the home and are a beautiful contrast next to the crisp white walls.
The floorplan is mostly open with the guest bedroom and living spaces flowing into one another creating an airy and spacious feeling to the retreat.
The guest bed is nestled into a nook with two tall windows and hanging pendant lights.
The kitchen is absolutely huge and has tons of dark wood cabinets with white countertops and a large island. Full-sized stainless steel appliances make sure that this owner and his pups have everything they need to fix a gourmet meal on the weekends.
The slate gray backsplash in the kitchen adds to the contemporary feel of the kitchen and pairs nicely with the appliances. We also love the long window that stretches the length of the counter over the sink area.
The master bedroom is off of the main living area and has a large bed with a closet. The frosted sliding doors keep the closet private without adding bulk to the room visually or physically.
The private guest bedroom is cozy with a large sliding door and room for a full-sized bed.
A doorway next to the kitchen leads to a laundry and bathroom area with stainless steel stacking machines and enough room to groom the owner’s foster dogs.
The bathroom is truly incredible with a stone wall and floor and a custom vanity cabinet.
The shower is spa-like and has a luxurious shower head to wash the day away with.
The final impressive feature of this house is the private covered deck featuring a soaking tub to relax in. You may have to fight the dogs for it, but it sure looks like a comfortable way to spend the evening!
This weekend retreat was designed with the owner and dogs in mind, but we have to admit that’s one party that we want to crash!
