A father and son duo out of upstate New York contacted one of our favorite tiny house builders to help them design an off-grid getaway home that would one day be the father’s primary home after retirement. Built on a 24-foot-long trailer with plenty of upgrades, this house sold for $85,000 however a less luxurious version could be built for $75,000.
The inside of the home is wrapped in sheetrock and painted white with red oak hardwood floors and pine accents. Metal hardware was utilized throughout the home to add a masculine touch. From the angle of this picture, you’re standing in the living room look out into the main floor which houses the kitchen, dining, and bathroom areas.
Looking down from the sleeping loft, you can see how the living room is raised over the gooseneck of the trailer. The loft is large enough for a king-sized bed and even has extra room for storage or furniture if needed.
On the front wall of the living room is a custom storage and seating area. The table that can be popped up has an optional extension that allows six people to sit together! The bench along the wall and the steps to the living room all have built in storage.
A large kitchen runs down the length of the home and features large cabinets and drawers with a 24-inch stove and oven combo. A compact cylinder stove was also added to warm the house with a propane RV furnace for backup heat.
The bathroom is where this house really shines with a honeycomb floor and subway tile walls all enclosed behind sliding barn doors. A Separett Villa toilet was installed to keep the home off-grid compliant.
A shower and tub combo was chosen with a sliding glass door and a custom sink vanity was built under a slim window.
Once again, the builders at Rocky Mountain Tiny Houses have designed and built a custom home for their very happy customers.
