The Tiny House movement has inspired many people to live on a smaller scale. One of those people is JRSinCanada, a Reddit user who has an architecture firm in Canada. He was inspired by his love for tiny homes to build a home on a much smaller scale than he was used to. While this home isn’t exactly “tiny” according to the movement’s standards, it’s definitely smaller than the average home at 920 square feet.
Take a look at the outside of this beautiful home! We love the mix of wood and metal and modern architecture.
The inside of the home is just as beautiful. He decorated with minimal fussiness and kept the walls light to keep it open visually.
The kitchen is absolutely gorgeous with sleek white cabinets and countertops. The rustic looking pendant lights add a nice touch as well.
One advantage to having a larger home compared to most tiny houses is that you can have full-sized appliances and plenty of space for storage. And look at that backsplash!
The owner kept the decorations understated which helps the space not feel cluttered.
Here’s another look at the kitchen. We love this table, too! The mix of wood and metal is really cool and all of the seating tucks neatly underneath to free up space.
The kitchen flows nicely into the living space which is brought together by a tasteful rug. The owner turned crates into wall storage to keep as much off the ground as possible.
The floors were kept light as well so the eye moves seamlessly around the space. Recessed lighting and under-cabinet lighting also makes a major difference.
Moving down the hallway, the floors change to a pretty hardwood and a small window at the end of the hallway lets in the light.
The bedroom has the same wood flooring and the owner painted an accent wall a pretty teal to give a pop of color. The low bed tricks the eye into thinking that the ceilings are higher than they really are.
Back in the living space, you can see the double-sliding doors that can be opened up to create more space or the curtains can be closed for privacy.
The owner combined the bathroom and laundry room and created even more space with full-sized stackable units. We love this floor and the way it blends with the shower wall!
In these pictures, you can see how the kitchen and living space flow into one another. The TV is hung on the wall between the hanging crates to free up floor space.
Here is another set of sliding doors that open up to the gorgeous yard. It really makes this space feel so much bigger!
Hello, shower! Isn’t that a beauty? This huge shower eliminates the need for a door and features a rain shower head and separate handheld sprayer.
The bathroom is kept mostly light to feel bigger and features a double vanity sink.
Here’s something you don’t see in tiny homes: a powder room! Completely separate from the master bath, this smaller bathroom is perfect for guests.
There’s even a spare bedroom for guests with a built-in desk area.
The outside of the home is kept minimalistic, too but doesn’t skimp on style and modern appeal.
This is a very well-thought-out floor plan that takes advantage of every inch! While it may not be exactly “tiny”, we think the owner truly encompassed the passion behind the tiny house movement.
