Rocky Mountain Tiny Houses is always getting unique requests from clients when it comes to designing their new homes. In 2014, they were asked to build a funky tiny house by a woman in Austin, TX with the intent to rent it out on Airbnb. The only catch? She had a tight budget, timeline and an even tighter site where the home would be parked. Always up for the challenge, Rocky Mountain Tiny House builders designed and built a 12-foot-long home with tons of steampunk character for around $22,000.
The inside of the home was modeled after the Boulder model and features unique components that would impress anyone that enters the home. The staircase was made from a maple slab and the edges were kept raw with cubbies under each offset step. One of the really unique features is the hanging bed!
The bed was ordered off of Etsy and hung high enough to store suitcases below and a sliding coffee table. If you’re interested in getting a bed made, visit the shop here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/GODsRusticWorkshop?ref=l2-shopheader-name
The home features many steampunk touches made from pipe fixtures like the towel holder and several light fixtures throughout the home.
The bathroom is closed off by a sliding barn door with hardware made on site for just $20. Inside the bathroom is another custom feature, the sink was made from pipe fixtures with a small stainless steel bowl set into a wooden platform.
The stair case also has a space underneath for suitcase storage and a small work area with a custom charging station and light.
A small but functional kitchen features another slab of maple wood and barn wood shelves. Pots and pans are hung on the wall and the paper towel holder was made from plumbing pipe.
This funky house was made to rent out unfortunately we can’t find the listing on Airbnb so maybe the owner fell in love with it and decided she didn’t want to share!
