Dream of owning your own home, but don’t think you can afford it? Typically we figure that building a custom home is going to cost an arm and a leg, but it doesn’t have to—not if you buy a house from the Amish Cabin Company.
I am thoroughly impressed with these tiny houses! Amish Cabin Company specializes in log cabin kits. Right now there are six different layouts which you can choose from. What is awesome about these cabins is that they are very affordable, and small enough that you can transport them yourself using nothing more than a standard flatbed trailer.
Below, you see one of the most popular models, the Cumberland. As you can see, it features a delightful little porch.
As a modular design, it is customizable. If you choose, it can include up to two lofts at either end.
Check out this gorgeous shot of the interior. Every surface is wood, making for a very cozy, rustic look and feel. As you can see, once the home is fully furnished, it looks incredibly inviting!
Want to take a look around inside? Below is a video tour of the Cumberland on YouTube:
While insulation, interior walls, electricity, and kitchen and bathroom features are not included in the base price, they can be added on. You can either take care of those features on your own, or you can request a quote for the company to install them for you.
How much can you expect to pay for a cabin by Amish Cabin Company? You can check out a full pricing list for all of the company’s cabins here. If you purchase the insulated unassembled kit for the 392’ Cumberland, you will pay $18,800, which is the starting price. If you wanted the 560’ Deluxe model pre-built and finished, the total price would still be just $46,900 right now.
Those prices are just mind-blowing! Think how much you would pay for a typical custom home in most circumstances—usually hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you had a plot of land and you were willing to do some hard work, you could buy this house out of pocket for under $20,000 and have an incredible place to live which is as beautiful as it is functional—and far more unique and atmospheric than a standard custom home.
