One common misconception of the Tiny House Movement is that it’s just for young or retired couples without children in the home. However, this tiny house built by Westcoast Outbuildings was designed to fit a family of four and do so comfortably! The 450 square foot house ended up costing around $97,000 and was built to “Healthy Living” standards with no toxins present.
If you’d like the same model but don’t mind traditional building supplies and procedures, you can get it for $74,600. This model though features a high-tech rain screen, triple-pane windows and even has the capability to go off-grid!
Inside, this home feels like a mansion with all of the features it holds! A large kitchen is in the heart of the home with plenty of storage and full-sized appliances to take care of the needs of the family.
Clever storage was added throughout the home like this special area designed to hold mason jars and cupboard items.
Ceiling fans were placed throughout the home to help air circulate and prevent the rooms from getting stuffy and stale.
One of the bedrooms is in the loft and has four walls for complete privacy. While the ceiling is low, a skylight was added to give you a view of the stars.
The children’s room has a slightly taller ceiling and also has a large sliding window with thick wires added for protection.
This room doubles as a nursery with a crib on the wall and a child-sized rocker for the smaller family members.
The family’s bathroom features a custom sink made from a large geode as well as a composting toilet.
The shower also features stones set into the corner and slate gray surround in the stall.
A large living area was a must for the family and so built-in furniture was added and floor space was left open for pallets.
Also needed was a workspace so a built-in bench was placed in front of a window with a beautiful live edge and a sliding bench for seating.
This family of four is loving life on the road in their new tiny home!
