Vina Lustado is a woman unafraid of breaking stereotypes and barriers. Already known for being a talented architect and builder, she decided she wanted to design herself a home that reflected her passion and values including simplicity, sustainability, and affordability. Working on it during her free time, the 220 square foot tiny house was complete after a year and ended up costing around $40,000.

The home was built with reclaimed wood to reflect her eco-friendly way of building that she’s known for at her company, Sol Haus Design. A large porch is off the front of the home with a canopy stretched across from shade and a table set up for dining outside.
The home was built on a trailer and so it can be transported easily. A metal roof crowns the home and large windows and skylights were added to bring in natural light.
Inside, the home is bright and neutral with light wood floors and accents. The living area is large and has a custom desk area that takes advantage of the space perfectly and gives her plenty of room to work on plans while at home.
The desk has storage below it and modular pieces that can be rearranged to form multiple functions depending on her day. A small storage loft is above it for off-season items or you can keep it free from clutter to allow more natural light to filter through.
We love the shade that she used over the desk with bamboo rods and light fabric!
The custom couch was made large enough to function as a guest bed if needed and has storage inside the bench for bulky items to be stored out of sight. Here you can see the modular pieces of the desk being used as a coffee/dining table and a surface for books.
A wood burning stove is across from the couch and it provides plenty of heat to warm the tiny house up during cooler weather.
The kitchen is in the center of the house and you can tell it was designed by someone with a love for cooking! Deep butcher block countertops sit on top of custom cabinets with drawers giving her plenty of room to store her kitchen essentials. Open shelving is above for dishes and mugs and she has a large built-in pantry for food items. There’s also a cooktop, stove,
and deep stainless steel sink.
The bathroom is at the back of the home and it features a slim design sink on a metal frame, tiled shower, and a built-in bench with cubbies and hooks for storage.
In the loft, Vina created a sanctuary with a cozy queen-sized bed and tons of natural light coming in through the skylight and round window at the head of the bed.
