The builder of this next tiny house is a self-proclaimed “old hippie” and so that’s exactly what he named his company: Old Hippie Woodworking and Designs. He owns a working dude ranch close to Las Vegas and Death Valley and on it sits a beautiful tiny house that he rents out through Airbnb starting at $70 a night.
The charming home sleeps up to three guests and gives you plenty of room to explore in the dessert. The exterior of the house is wrapped in wood siding with a metal roof and plenty of windows on all sides of the home.
Inside, the home is spacious and open with white walls and hardwood floors under the tongue and groove ceilings. Large windows fill the home with natural light and keep it bright during the day.
The living room is large and features a custom couch which can be used as a single guest bed if needed. An area rug warms the space up and provides definition to the space. The room also serves as the dining space with storage behind the table.
The dining table can be folded flat against the wall when it’s not in use and the chairs can then be pointed towards the couch allowing for easy interaction with your guests.
The home’s kitchen is in the back corner and features a long wooden countertop with custom cabinets that show off the builder’s woodworking skills. Open shelves are above the counter for dishes and mugs and there’s also a cooktop and refrigerator.
The sink and mini-backsplash are handmade pottery items and a custom faucet was fashioned out of plumbing pipes and bright red handles. We love the character this adds to the kitchen!
Pantry items are stored in mason jars which are kept inside a built-in case on the wall opposite the cabinets and guests are encouraged to help themselves to anything they find.
The bathroom is off the kitchen with a composting toilet and hot-water shower. It’s fairly rustic but it provides all the essentials to wash up after a day in the desert!
Upstairs, the loft is carpeted and has room for a queen-sized bed. Wide windows let fresh air and natural light into the room and the stained glass window at the head of the bed features a hummingbird, the tiny house’s namesake bird.
This tiny house promises adventure for its guests and plenty of privacy in the desert and mountains!
