When Caspar Schols mother asked him to create a building that could serve multiple purposes for her in her gorgeous backyard, he went above and beyond to make it happen for her! Schols designed an incredible tiny house that can expand and contract to transform the space depending on what the day’s needs are. It’s truly remarkable and gives us so many ideas for tiny houses in the future!
The building was made out of Douglas Fir wood and has a fairly typical garden shed look – at first glance.
However, upon closer inspection you’ll see that the inner structure was built separately from the outer shell in order to be able to be moved on runners. Even the walls inside can be moved towards the center or the walls to create multiple layouts.
The two sides of the shell can be completely separated to leave a courtyard in the middle.
There’s even a bed hidden in the deck that can be lifted up to form a bedroom. A wooden fireplace is in the center of the home and it provides plenty of heat for the entire tiny house in cooler weather.
If the weather turns rainy, a glass shell can be extended to form a covered courtyard.
We think this innovative tiny house design opens up so many possibilities for the future of tiny living!
