Wishbone Tiny Homes is a company that specializes in building what’s knowns as “accessory dwelling units” in Asheville, North Carolina. These homes are built behind primary residences and can only be up to 70% the size of the main home which means most of the ADU’s are considered tiny or small houses like the one we’re about to share with you! According to their website, these homes typically cost $200-350 square foot to build so this 768 square foot home would cost anywhere from $153,600 to $268,800!
While we have to admit, that’s more than what we’d care to spend on a tiny house, we also have to admit that Wishbone builds a gorgeous home! We love the clean lines of this house and large attached deck with the bright red door off of it.
Because this home is built on a slope, it has a subterranean level with a door leading out to the backyard.
Inside, the home has white walls with dark industrial fittings throughout the house and light wood accents. The kitchen is compact but it’s fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove/oven combo, and dishwasher. You also have plenty of storage space with tons of upper and lower cabinets and butcher block countertops.
A bright red island is in the middle of the kitchen and was designed on castors so it can be easily moved and used for dining.
The kitchen is so roomy that it even as a sitting area perfect for kids to lounge at while you cook.
A loft if over the kitchen and is reached by a ladder that also gives you access to the storage on top of the cabinets. In the loft, there’s room for a twin-sized cot and a long pipe forms a protective barrier for safety.
Below the loft is a large bathroom with a tub and shower combo, toilet, sink, and even a laundry area. Space was saved by using a stackable unit but separate machines were used instead of the combo machine that we typically see in tiny houses.
A separate room could be used as a living area or as a master bedroom. It has built-in closets that are covered by sliding barn doors and plenty of room for a bed or a couch.
Throughout the home, industrial pipes were used to add dark accents to the all-white home in the form of hooks, mounts, and fixtures.
And while you may think we’ve shown you the entire home, you’d be wrong! We haven’t gone downstairs to the basement yet! This bottom floor could be used as a master suite or as a large family room.
It has what is possibly the coolest floor we’ve seen in a tiny house! The marbled blue/green floor makes you feel like you’re walking on water and it also makes clean-up for spills a snap!
Off of the large room is another full bathroom with a tiled shower stall.
We love this tiny house and the whole idea of accessory dwelling units that are becoming more prevalent as housing becomes an issue in crowded areas.
