In 2011, Malissa and Chris Tack took $20,000 and seven months to build what would be their permanent residence for four years. The Tiny Tack House is now being rented out in hopes of convincing others that “tiny” is the way to go so if you’re ever in Everett, Washington you should definitely book your stay through Airbnb in this adorable tiny house.
Both Malissa and Chris worked from home so it was important to have space to spread out in and to work on. This was accomplished by a custom 6’3 couch and two separate tables one of which folds flat against the wall below the TV.
Here you can see the table when folded out. It can be used for dining or for a workspace.
The second table is between the compact fridge and couch. A small surface can be popped up to work on or folded down when not in use.
The bedroom loft is over the kitchen and bathroom and is reached by a ladder that can be stored out of the way when not in use. The entire home has natural wood siding and the main floor is connected by dark hardwood floors.
On the wall behind the ladder access to the loft is the large storage cabinet that’s perfect for hanging clothes storing items below.
In the loft, a queen-sized bed is squeezed in and double windows let natural light and fresh air flow through the room to keep it from getting stuffy.
The kitchen wraps around the back corner of the home and has long countertops with cabinets below. Creative storage was added in mounted baskets, hooks, and slim cabinets for glasses and jars.
A small sink sits in the corner of the kitchen and looks out over the window.
The cabinets are used to maximum potential with added interior drawers, hooks, and pins to increase storage potential.
One unique feature of the Tiny Tack House is the shower which is made from a wine barrel! The bathroom is painted white which really lets the barrel stand out.
On the opposite side of the bathroom is a composting toilet.
