Usually the phrase “living in a glass house” is a used as a clear negative. But if we stop taking it figuratively and start imagining what the possibilities of a literal glass house would be … well, we would imagine this amazing home designed by Santambrogio, a firm which specializes in all-glass architecture and design.
The house is so surreal-looking in the image above that I actually am having a hard time telling if it is a completed structure or if I am looking at a conceptual rendering.
There would be no privacy in a house like this, but who needs opaque walls when you have a screen of beautiful trees enclosing your home? That’s all the privacy you could ever need—and one heck of a view.
This is a really beautiful image … because literally every surface is glass, including even the steps and the shelves, the view of the outdoors is almost unobstructed. The blue tint of the glass also fits really well thematically with the snowy environment outside.
Something else I notice is that the eye is really drawn to the different edges and intersections of surfaces—many of which would be hidden if the surfaces were opaque. They have an artistic beauty all their own.
The bed and couch in this image are two of the only non-transparent items in the home. Even the floor they are situated on its transparent, which makes the furniture almost seem as if it is floating.
Here is another glass house. This one is one-story only and situated on the beach.
What a bizarre image this is! It looks less like a three-dimensional structure and more like some kind of digital virtual reality overlay. One gets the odd impression that it is completely flat.
The same strange impression that you get from the previous image is continued in this one.
