When Stacey Coleman and Shelley Kimball described their dream house to architectural firm Heliotrope, they explained, “When we walk in and drop our bags and look around, we want to feel like we’re in a modern art gallery.”
That modern, sleek, minimalist vibe was more important to them than the details of the house’s dimensions or the number of rooms it would have.
Well, Heliotrope made it a reality in the form of this exquisite minimalist tiny house on Orcas Island.
The house certainly looks like a work of art from the outside.
The interior definitely does evoke the idea of an art gallery! The sparse furnishings and the monochromatic color scheme keep the focus on the few works of art which are scattered around. They also pull the eye to the dark trim around the windows and the polished shine of the concrete floor, emphasizing the form of the space itself.
The daybed in the corner is on casters, which means it can be moved anywhere in the room effortlessly.
Unfortunately I haven’t found any other pictures of this house, perhaps because as of the time of this writing, it is a relatively new building. What we’ve been able to see of it is amazing though!
