Camp Wandawega is an event venue established in 1925 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Its historical status was enough to get it listed in the National Register of Historic Places as well as the Wisconsin Register of Historic Places. But the owners of Tom’s Treehouse haven’t rested on their laurels. While they have worked hard to preserve the original beauty of camp Wandawega, they have also contributed some exciting new features to the grounds—one of which is the tiny Tom’s Treehouse!
Tom’s Treehouse has become quite iconic. It has been featured in a number of major publications, including Travel & Leisure, Apartment Therapy, The Lettered Cottage, and Remodelista. It has even appeared on The Today Show.
The tiny treehouse was built by volunteers who worked a year to bring this magical little hideaway into existence. Let’s check it out!
The vertical profile of the treehouse allows for wide open interior space along with the inclusion of huge windows.
This means that the interior of the treehouse feels connected to the outdoors. The use of rustic building materials contributes to this effect as well—as does the branch which grows right through the middle of the floor and out through the window.
