Lately I have been catching up on Timbercraft Tiny Homes’ growing catalog. Since the last time I dropped by their site, they have been busy innovating some incredibly beautiful homes. One of their lower cost models is the Boxcar, aptly named for its boxcar-like appearance.
With its red paint and its boxy shape, the tiny house really is immediately evocative of a boxcar.
There is a charming little porch underneath an awning with just enough room for a chair beside the door.
The colors inside the home are neutral browns and tans. As is typical with Timbercraft houses, the floor and ceiling are both wood in darker tones than the wall panels.
The main living area includes a lot of open floor space. Look at the right-hand wall. That ladder is so minimalist that you could miss it if you were not looking for it.
This is the downstairs bedroom. Check out the amazing amount of cabinet and drawer space along the wall and be a little impressed—there is still open floor space!
The thing to look at here is the barn door on the left—a nice rustic touch. The light fixture on the right-hand side also enhances the homespun look.
I have a hard time visualizing how all of this fits together, but this is a shot of the loft. It seems that some of these wood panels can be removed if desired. But I really like this layout, because this is a lot more upper floor space than you usually see with tiny houses.
You can see what I mean here. This shot is looking out across the same space, but some of the loft flooring appears to have been removed.
Another angle on the downstairs bedroom provides us with a look back through the bedroom door to the kitchen and living room. I am really liking how self-contained this room is—it seems more private than most tiny house bedrooms. Also notice the high shelving above the window on the left.
There is some extra storage located right near the foot of the bed.
I really would like a better understanding of the loft and how it can be configured. But I really like the unique layout with the minimalist ladder and the extra flooring upstairs. I think this tiny house has a lot going for it that other builders could learn from.
