In a world that’s overpopulated and frankly already could use a little more space, I think we can all agree that tiny houses probably represent the future. They are ecologically friendly, and they are also more affordable. One company called Nice Architects, based in Slovakia, is trying to design the ultimate tiny house of the future. When you see it, I think you will be amazed. It looks like the future ought to look.

The Ecocapsule’s exterior is covered in solar panels. The unit also includes a retractable wind turbine. So it has not one but two methods of harnessing natural energy. High-capacity batteries in the unit make it possible to store energy over very long time periods. This is real off-the-grid living!
Oh, and that spherical shape? It isn’t just meant to be cool. It is actually optimized to help you collect rainwater and condensation on the outside of the house. The water is then automatically filtered for safe consumption. Personally I think this is genius. Water loves to condense on mobile homes. Making actual use of it is a brilliant idea, and solves one of the main challenges that go with living off the grid. While you need power, that really is just the start.
Here’s the interior. With a folding bed, dining nook, hot shower, kitchenette, and toilet, it offers 86 square-feet of space for two adults.
The floor plans are below. There is even some built-in storage space which is accessible from inside and outside the pod. It isn’t a lot, but it’s certainly more than you would expect just looking at the house.
The interiors will be fully customizable. Customers can choose a look that they enjoy. Here is an alternate interior.
Right now, the Ecocapsule is in the prototype stage, but the units will be available starting in 2016. Currently the only units available are those which need to be towed, but the company is planning to make a version you can drive. The price has yet to be announced, but the company has promised to announce it during the last quarter of 2015, so there should be a number anytime now.
