Like many other states across the country, Virginia has bought into the tiny house way of living.
These tiny, often mobile properties are popping up all over the state, and provide an alternative way of living.
Virginia tiny-house laws are still developing, and differ between counties. In some counties, tiny houses can only be built as backyard additional dwelling units.
These must be on the same property as your house, and can only be rented, or occupied by a family member.
Other counties are more lenient, and some even allow multiple tiny houses on the same plot of land, much like a small community.
Classification of a tiny house also differs throughout the state. Staunton county is the only one which has a minimum size requirement to be considered a tiny house.
But statewide Virginia says that stationary tiny homes can be up to 500sqft, and mobile one 400sqft.
But with its beautiful green scenery, along with coastline beaches, Virginia is the ideal place for tiny home living.
We have found some of the coolest and most inspirational tiny homes in the state, and in this post share them for you to see.
