Interested in living in a tiny house, but prefer one which is a little bit larger than the average? You might like this 340-square-foot home for sale in Monticello, Illinois.
The house measures 28 feet in length, and was constructed by Pin Oak Tiny Homes. The exterior features several different colors and materials, and you can see just from a glance that it is a beautiful, unique abode.
It’s the other side of the house that really stands out though …
The dominant feature is a large octagonal “porthole” in the center of the structure. Also notice that this home has a small deck on one end—a nice feature which you don’t typically see on tiny houses.
The kitchen incorporates a breakfast bar, a feature which is becoming very trendy in tiny house design. Some hooks on the wall beside the breakfast bar offer a spot to grow herbs indoors, though they could doubtless be repurposed for other items. The door through the back under one of the house’s two lofts leads to the bathroom.
Across from the breakfast bar is the octagonal window, beautifully framing the outside world. The steps lead past it up to the loft. Notice how the angle of the window perfectly matches the incline of the stairs. Underneath them are storage cabinets.
The view out the window is breathtaking! This is definitely a house you will want to park somewhere scenic. Those walls, by the way, are handcrafted shiplap. The effect is decidedly rustic.
Turning to face the other direction, you can see that a matching set of steps leads up to the second loft. You can now fully appreciate the logic of the window design. If the window were rectangular, it would probably need to be smaller. The octagon shape maximizes the window’s size while adding a decorative effect.
The beautifully crafted barn door is among the home’s loveliest features. A large farmhouse sink allows for easy dishwashing.
A smaller farmhouse sink is featured in the bathroom, together with a roomy shower. The tile floor of the shower is heated, as are the bamboo floors throughout the house.
This appears to be a regular flush toilet. Notice the shelves which have been cleverly integrated into the wall between the toilet and the shower.
