Recently I discovered some cool tiny houses called “Podhouses” developed by a company called Robust Outdoor Brands. These houses truly are diminutive, and are designed to bring their occupants closer to nature. Let’s check out the Menhir model of Podhouse now.
These houses look magical, like something out of a fairytale. The word “Menhir” translates to “monolith.”
On the website, the goal of the Menhir’s design is described like this: the occupant should “step in and feel good.” To this end, high ceilings were utilized to create a sense of tranquility. This is in stark contrast with most tiny houses, which feature very low, cramped ceilings over the beds. To me, the vault of the ceiling is vaguely reminiscent of the interior of a church, which might explain why it feels like a sanctuary.
On the outside, the Menhir looks a bit like a hobbit hole without the hillside.
The houses are built to withstand harsh weather. The curvature of the roof helps snow to slide off, ultimately reducing the stress the rooftop is subjected to.
Without the snow caked on top, the houses look a good deal less mysterious. But they are still lovely.
One can imagine that vacationing in the Menhir would be an amazing experience. It would also work well as a backyard shed to escape from the worries and demands of everyday life.
It’s an idyllic tiny house which looks at home in an equally heavenly setting.
Right here … this is where I want to be right now, surrounded by the green glow of the forest, the rustle of the leaves, and the call of songbirds. It’d be just divine to retire for the night in one of these tiny pod houses!
