Love the idea of living in a van? It’s awesome imagining being able to park anywhere you want with all the comforts of home, isn’t it?
Then again, it’s hard to picture being all that comfortable in such a tiny space! Living in a van brings a whole new meaning to the idea of “tiny” living.
But I think you’ll find it pretty easy to visualize once you take a look at the Mercedes Sprinter 2016 from Rustic Campers.
From the outside, it looks like a pretty ordinary van—though it does have a cool custom awning.
But wait until you see what’s inside …
Wow, a fabulous rustic interior! Upcycled materials were used wherever possible. The woods that you see are chestnut and oak. The light blue and grey colors throughout the van were selected for a “washed out, beachy feel.”
The lights in the van are powered by solar panels, keeping electrical costs down and providing off-the-grid functionality. The solar panels also power the cool box and charging points. The heating system and the cooker run on lpg gas.
The rustic look continues in the back with the bedding. Looks like there is extra sleeping space incorporated through the use of hanging cots. Clever.
One kind of gets an “old West” vibe.
The kitchen is an especially charming section of the home. I have actually seen less counter space than this in some much larger tiny homes, so this is a really impressive layout. And check out that gorgeous backsplash!
There is a huge amount of hidden storage in here!
Here’s a better look at the two hanging cots, as well as the closet.
Looking toward the back of the van from the front, you can see that the kitchen really is squeezed in there—but it works!
Curtains can be drawn across to separate the sleeping zone from the kitchen.
A small table has been placed between the two seats up front and the large seat with the hidden storage. Since the chairs can be swiveled, a family could enjoy a meal here.
There is extra storage space located underneath the bed.
Personally, I would find that this space would be a bit confining for me if I were sharing it—but that is just me personally. I think it’d be awesome for family road trips, or great for full-time living for one or two people.
