Those in search of a tiny house with a contemporary flavor which can be customized in terms of layout and features will want to take a look at the Cypress. This abode from Mustard Seed Tiny Homes is nothing but sheer delight, inside and out.
The first thing you will notice is the siding, which includes some eye-catching contrasts of colors and materials.
How large is the home? That depends on the size you select. There are four options, each individually priced:
28′ Starting at $68k MSRP
30′ Starting at $72k MSRP
32′ Starting at $76k MSRP
34′ Starting at $80k MSRP
That means that there is something for every budget/family size.
The house features a standing seam metal roof.
Low E vinyl windows are strategically positioned to bring in light.
The interior of the home is so bright and cheerful! It also has a somewhat “ornate” feel thanks to the intricate design on the rug as well as the effect of the painting on the wall above.
The colors featured in the decor had a lot of thought put into them. Notice how the colors of the steps/shelves on the left are approximate match for the colors of the siding on the exterior. That same shade of blue-grey is found in the rug as well as the pillow on the couch. The rug and pillow include mustard yellow as well, which is also on the door.
With the lighting in the shot, you can see that that mustard yellow color is not too bright. It adds warmth to the interior without being distracting or gaudy. The grayish blue has been used in the kitchen cabinets as well.
Counter space has been sacrificed to make way for a larger sink.
The full-size refrigerator is an optional upgrade which you can purchase when you customize the house.
A sliding barn door separates the bedroom from the bathroom.
A small farmhouse-style sink is situated on the bathroom vanity. Looking in the mirror above, you can see the shower stall reflected. Next to the vanity is a surprisingly large storage cabinet.
The upstairs bedroom in the loft. The same mustard and blue colors are used for the pillows on the bed, further unifying the decor of the home. The particular angle at which this photograph was taken also creates an appealing optical illusion of a right triangle formed by the opening in the wall and the floor.
The downstairs bedroom can also function as a study with a foldout desk designed to fit up against the wardrobe.
I take it back. It is not a wardrobe at all. It is a bed which can be collapsed directly into the wall or brought down to use!
When I saw this, I thought about going back up and correcting what I said, but I didn’t want to take away from the same surprise that I felt. Pretty impressive—this room can function as both a bedroom and a study through some simple reconfiguration.
To other tiny house builders who might be reading this—can you please learn from this example? This is a simple but incredibly useful feature that is currently vastly underutilized in tiny homes.
