Blackbird Tiny Homes is a talented Canadian builder with a vision. As the company explains on their site, they are here to help people live their dreams through tiny house living, and “Whether it’s reducing or eliminating debt, to working less and living more through traveling, to living simple and affordably, we are here to help make your dream possible.”
Blackbird’s newest build is the Crow, a 24’ tiny house trailer, also available in 20’ and 32’ variations.
The exterior of the home features cedar and metal siding and a metal split gable roof. The cool metal and warm wood contrast beautifully.
Stepping inside, you can see that natural wood colors and patterns dominate the interior, which boasts a huge IKEA kitchen. Seriously, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen more counter space in a tiny house. This would be any chef’s dream come true.
The kitchen is equipped with a Dickinson Marine stainless steel propane range with three burners and also includes an oven with broiler, a Broan stainless steel fume hood, a butcher block, and an LG energy efficient 11.5 cubic foot fridge
& freezer. The double sink is stainless steel for easy cleaning and maintenance, and the laminate flooring is also durable and easy to keep clean. Did I mention the energy efficient washing machine?
There is also a Cubic Mini Grizzly wood stove.
Here is another view which shows you the main seating area. You also can get a better look at the storage shelves from this angle.
The bathroom is another of the home’s highlights. It includes a Separette Composting
Toilet, IKEA tall cabinet and vanity, and a double glass wall cabinet.
But what really blows my mind is the shower, which looks like it is huge! Check out all those shelves in there, and the beautiful frosted glass enclosure. That enclosure would do a great job at keeping water from the shower from getting on the floor. But just in case it does, the vinyl plank flooring is waterproof.
there is extra storage located in this exterior compartment.
Here we are looking up toward the loft.
The loft looks to be one of the tinier parts of the tiny house—but it sure is beautiful! With the big windows to either side of the bed, it doesn’t feel cramped. All the windows in the home have a double pane energy efficient design. The sliding patio door downstairs has adjustable blinds located between panes of glass. This removes the need to clean them and also protects them from damage.
Another energy-efficient feature throughout the home is the use of LED lights. These are all installed and ready to go, and the home is set up for cable and Ethernet.
If you want to save even more energy and money, there is an optional off-grid solar package available for the Crow. This includes 165 watt solar panels with flexibility to add on two more panels later. It also comes with a Magnum 2000 watt inverter/charger, a charge controller, and 6 volt AGM maintenance-free batteries. The house is equipped with 30 pound propane tanks as well, and also includes a Yamaha 3000-watt inverter series generator. If necessary, the generator can provide enough power for the whole home.
