Sometimes the best ideas come from shooting the breeze with your buddies, and that’s exactly what happened with this next tiny house from Rocky Mountain Tiny Homes. When discussing what his longtime friend and their family of three (plus pets) would want in a tiny house, the idea of a larger 32’ long home came to mind with inspiration drawn from the mighty Rio Grande river. The river theme was carried throughout the build most notably on the exterior where a river motif was burned into the cedar siding. Even the changing rooflines of the home remind you of a river that ebbs and flows.
The house has 218 square feet on the main level with another 70 square feet in the loft and sold for around $60,000. Featuring many custom touches, this house is definitely one-of-a-kind! The interior of the home is wrapped in wood siding and left natural to show off its beauty. River Willow branches were used for the guardrail over the bedroom area which was another way to tie in the theme.
A small dining area was built-in with a tabletop that can be popped up when in use or folded away to give easier access to the staircase which serves as the base for the seat on one side of the table.
The home has a compact furnace that provides enough heat for the whole house. It’s nestled next to the kitchen featuring compact appliances and tons of custom cabinetry.
Another unique and beautiful river accent is found in the kitchen. The couple gathered river stones which were then laid into the countertop with epoxy poured on top. Now the countertop serves as a durable surface and a piece of art!
The bathroom is at the end of the home and is closed off with sliding barn doors. Inside you have a custom sink vanity and medicine cabinet overhead for extra storage.
A tub and shower combo was added to make sure there’s a safe place to bathe the families toddler as well as the baby that’s on the way.
The staircase leading to the sleeping loft was put to maximum use with cubbies for storage in each step.
The loft upstairs has room for a king-sized bed and with large windows on both sides, you can rest assured that you won’t feel stuffy in this loft.
This is yet another custom home by these incredible builders and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
