When Kristen Moeller and her husband suddenly lost their dream home to a raging wildfire, they wondered how they could ever move on and rebuild their life in Salida. After consulting with Miami-based builder Cabin Fever, they decided to build a completely custom tiny house that would be totally off-grid. The 500 square foot Rocky Mountain Mansion sits on the side of a mountain with breathtaking views and an incredible outdoor living space complete with a fire pit.
The home is in the middle of charred trees but the beauty of the setting still shines through.
The couple has actually moved on from the tiny house and is now renting it out as a writer’s retreat. The home has everything needed to get away from the world and write the next bestselling novel!
A cozy bed is set up in a large room with a rocking chair next to a large window and plenty of natural light floods in during the day.
The living area has orange accents that pop off of the neutral walls and enough room for several pieces of furniture like this mid-century chairs.
Sliding barn doors with live edges conceal the writing retreat and bathroom while a staircase leads to the loft bedroom.
The kitchen may be small but its mighty with a full-sized refrigerator, bright red oven and plenty of storage space. An island serves as extra prep room or can be used as a dining table.
This tiny house is the perfect place to escape from the world for a weekend and if you’re a writer in need of a retreat, you can do just that! For more information on booking a stay, go to http://kristenmoeller.com/firewalker-writing-retreats/.
