The Moon Dragon is a unique tiny house built by Zyl Vardos, a small living specialist out of Olympia, Washington. This home may have one of the most interesting exteriors that we’ve even seen! The home has a curved roofline and jutted windows that almost give the home an animal effect which we’re guessing is the cause for its name!
The home is covered in Onduvilla shingles with wood siding and a corrugated red metal roof. We love the various shapes of windows that he chose that keep the home from feeling anything but boring.
Once completed, the home will have a wood-burning stove that will heat the home and will be placed in the living room which is entered by a hand-built Dutch door with the huge “moon” window on the opposite wall.
Here’s a better look at the Dutch door and the pedestal where the stove will go.
The home features a large main floor that has the living area, kitchen, and bathroom and also a large loft with huge closets that’s reached by a staircase.
The kitchen features wood cabinets with laminated oak countertops and a deep sink next to a full-sized refrigerator.
Across from the sink is a compact range oven that has five burners and a double oven! That’s not something you see every day, especially in tiny homes.
The staircase leading to the large loft has storage built into each step. One of the compartments reveals a large pantry with slide-out shelves.
On top of the steps are additional bins that give more storage space and also give you a lift to the next step.
At the top of the stairs are these large closets that provide tons of storage space and also give the bedroom partial privacy.
The bedroom is large enough for any kind of bed as well as small furniture. High ceilings give you plenty of headroom while you move around which is always a welcome feature in lofts!
Downstairs, the bathroom is on the back of the home and features a concrete shower with a frosted glass door.
Across from the shower is a composting toilet and corner sink with storage but above and below.
We love the look of the Moon Dragon and think it’s possibly one of the most unique tiny houses we’ve seen so major kudos to the builder! Of course, all of those handmade details don’t come cheap! This home ended up costing $96,000!
