If you are interested in getting a down-to-earth, honest snapshot of what life is like inside a tiny house, I recommend popping by the Mustard Yellow House blog, summarized simply as “Two Kiwi guys, two little dogs, one tiny home.”
As you would guess given the name, the house itself is a mustard yellow color, and is located in New Zealand. It measures just 28’, but packs a lot of comfort and hominess into a small profile.
This lovely shot is the perfect introduction to the home, which looks quite idyllic there at the end of the rainbow.
As you can see, this house has some traditional homey touches to it. It fits well in its picturesque rural setting.
This dog sure looks cozy cuddling up to the stove which provides heat for the house.
The look of this house is humble and rustic. And being as it actually is located in the countryside, has a certain authenticity to it. Note the colorful little accent squares in the glass.
Here is the kitchen. This space also has a traditional look and feel to it. The large windows over the sink are wonderful. They let in extra light, and make it possible to look out at the lovely countryside while working over the sink.
Here you can see how the kitchen adjoins to the living room.
This looks like a lovely spot to spend a relaxing afternoon if you are a canine.
I like how the floor is raised up above the ground outside.
Some people may hope to find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. But finding this beautiful little home would be just as nice.
This photo shows off the decorative glass windows. In some respects, it is surprising that this is not something we see more often in tiny houses. After all, it is an easy way to add interest to the appearance of a home without intruding on its interior space.
The bedroom is simple, without much in the way of decorative embellishments. But the unique shape at the ceiling does a lovely job of framing the bed, and the blue wall lamps are utterly delightful.
This photo gives a better idea of the size of the tiny house.
This beautiful photo shows off the lovely garden next to the house.
The shape of this tiny house kind of puts me in mind of RVs and fifth wheels which have slide-outs to extend their interior dimensions when they are parked.
The house is completely off the grid. Owners Nick and Tom and their dogs Connor and Phoebe are really lucky to have such a beautiful place to live! Learn more at The Mustard House blog. Again, I highly recommend dropping by the blog not just check out the photos, but also to learn a little bit more about what it’s really like to live in a tiny house.
