Jeff Wilson used to be the dean at Huston-Tilloston University during which he lived part-time in a dumpster! While living in such small and unconventional habitat, he came up with the idea of Kasita. This Austrian company builds prefabricated tiny houses that are made to be stackable to create apartment buildings. Each unit is 352 square feet and sells for $139,000.
The sleek and modern homes are very minimalistic in styling both inside and out. Each home has large living rooms with built-in seating and a raised kitchen and bedroom level. The walls are painted white with light wood hardwood floors and gray accents.
The bedroom is open and bright with floor-to-ceiling windows and a raised platform for a small sitting area next to the glass wall. Built-in storage is in front of the platform and the space is large enough for a queen-sized bed.
The sitting area is large enough to serve multiple purposes and the storage cabinets can be used for clothing as well as display. And if you’re in need of a place to rock out, as you can see in this photo, you can do that here, too!
The kitchen has plain white cabinets with storage room both above and below the gray countertops. A microwave is mounted to the wall and you also have a small electric cooktop next to the stainless steel sink.
Across from the sink area is more storage and a long countertop giving you plenty of prep room with cooking. A drawer-style dishwasher was also installed.
The bathroom is futuristic feeling with a glass shower stall and sleek hardware. A large medicine cabinet is over the slim sink and vanity and a long narrow window lets natural light fill the space.
When stacked, the units form a modern and unique building that looks right at home next to skyscrapers.
