If you loved the styles in the 1950s, you’re going to love this tiny house that we found in Sweden! This 570-square foot house was updated in 2012 to add modern elements making it more energy-efficient, but it still has all the charm from an era past.
We love the exterior of the house with its bright blue accents and wood siding. Plus, look at that scenery! It looks like a scene from a storybook!
As you walk up to the front door, a large covered porch greets you with enough room for a table that would be perfect for dining outside.
The living area is nice and open with wood paneling on the walls and ceiling and pine flooring. One wall is completely covered in windows so you have tons of natural light flooding in. The dining area is tucked along the wall with its own lighting and window as well so it feels like a separate space.
On the other side of the living room, you have a great fireplace and brick wall. The whole fireplace is like a piece of art and makes the room feel cozy while serving the purpose of heating the home.
The kitchen has bright pops of green on the cabinets and furniture which is echoed in the cheerful wallpaper in the breakfast room. You have a full-size stove and oven combo with a tile backsplash. We love that the cabinets are true to the 50’s style with all of the flower and routing details.
The bedroom is all white with overhead storage and a small window.
In the bathroom, you have a shower stall, toilet, and sink as well as a washer/dryer combo.
We think this home has tons of character and exemplifies the simpler lifestyle of the 50’s. Although the owners chose several different wallpapers and textiles throughout the house, it still has a cohesive feel to it and doesn’t come across as jumbled. It just goes to show that you can add your personality to a place without going overboard!
