Ever dream of a visit to an Irish pub? Well, you may not need to book a plane ticket to experience it—you could actually have it in your very own backyard. The Shebeen is a tiny Irish pub which you can rent or own.
The goal of The Shebeen was to make it possible for anyone to enjoy the charm of the classic Irish pub experience no matter where they are located. As the builder explains, “We’ve always been in awe of the magic that pervades the old Irish traditional haunts.”
If you are throwing a shindig, you can rent The Shebeen. I’m not positive which countries are served, but my guess would be Ireland and the USA since the company has addresses in both.
What better way to sit and share memories (and create new ones) with beloved friends and family?
The Shebeen is a fully functional bar, complete with cool mood lighting:
If you want to build your own Shebeen, there are three models you can choose from: the Connemara, the Burren and the Blarney. Let’s check each of them out starting with the Connemara (pictured below).
This charming version of the Shebeen includes whitewashed walls and a thatched roof. The interior features aged rafters and a tongue-and-groove paneled ceiling. The bar is made out of solid Irish pine. Two bar tables are provided.
Next up is The Burren:
Sadly the company does not seem to have a larger photo of this one on their site. It has white-washed walls and a slate roof. The seating and materials used on the interior are the same as they are on the Connemara.
Finally, we have The Blarney:
Again, we’re stuck with a tiny image. But doesn’t it look amazing? The whitewashed walls contrast sharply with a bright red galvanized roof. There is a wallpapered finish on the inside along with two tables and an Irish pine bar with seating.
Every model includes a traditional half door on the outside along with sash-style windows, hand-painted signage, external trailer lights and reflectors, a framed blackboard sign, and window boxes for flowers. Believe it or not, you are even provided with the flowers and an original High Nelly bicycle.
I’m not even sure where to start on the interior features. The bar counter is fully functional and includes draught taps. You’ve got a sink, a fridge, a cooler for ice, an antique mirror, and even props like old Irish bottles and an antique cash register (which actually is more than a prop—it works). There is a fully integrated music system, a traditional Irish rug, and enough seating for ten people.
That isn’t even the entire features list. Basically, you get everything you need in one package to fully replicate the Irish pub experience. No detail is left out. If you order, the company can have the custom-made Shebeen delivered to your site inside of eight weeks.
Now and again, I wish we had awards to give out, because The Shebeen deserves one—both for sheer originality and for flawless execution of a unique concept. Visit the official website here for a full list of features, an extensive gallery, videos, and more. On the site, you can rent The Shebeen or order your very own backyard Irish pub!
