If you are passing through Joshua Tree, California, and you want to enjoy some fun and unusual accommodations, you should consider booking a reservation at the Hicksville Trailer Palace.
This retreat consists of a number of small trailers placed on a green lawn around a small swimming pool. Each trailer has its own unique theme and distinctive features. Let’s check them out.
The New World
This vintage 1950s trailer measures 40 feet and is billed as the “Crown Jewel of Hicksville.”
It has all of the amenities you could possibly ask for.
There is a flat-screen TV, a DVD player, a full-size bath, and more.
The most unusual feature is actually this set of bunk beds. While they might appear ordinary at a glance, they can actually be converted into a filmmaking editing suite. So if you are a traveling filmmaker, this tiny accommodation was made for you!
The Pioneer
If you like an Old West theme, you can stay in this tiny trailer.
Along with cool Old West design flourishes, it features a shaded porch, a mini fridge, a sink, and a fold-down bunk which is ideal if you are traveling with small children.
The Integratrailor
This little Airstream’s interior was inspired by the famous “Integratron” which is found in Landers, CA.
It has a spacey theme.
Features include a workstation for your laptop, a comfortable bed, a star machine, and an “alien communication system.”
The FiFi
The “FiFi” was named for the Fifi Mahony’s wig store, since it was designed by the shop’s proprietors.
“Fabulous” is the word to describe it.
The colors are vibrant, and every inch is just dripping with luxury (and wigs).
Special features include a bar, a mini fridge, a lighted vanity, and wig heads that glow.
The Lux
This tiny trailer has a punk rock theme revolving around The Cramps.
Features include a mini fridge, a jukebox with tunes from the Cramps, and a black and white TV with a collection of horror films.
The Pony
This tiny trailer is located inside a horse stall.
Rather like the Pioneer, it has a western theme.
There is a sink and a mini fridge as well as a swamp cooler (no AC unfortunately).
The Sideshow
The “Sideshow” looks like it might have been part of a traveling circus—even down to the striped tent flap across the ceiling.
In the trailer you will find a kitchen, bath, TV, and DVD player.
The Sweet
Wish you could go back to the 70s? Enjoy a blast from the past in The Sweet.
This retro pad features fabulous couches, an electric fireplace, a record player, a set of records, and a TV.
There is even a stove and oven under the outdoor awning.
The Pee-Wee
This gorgeous trailer looks like it could’ve been featured in a movie … wait, it was!
It was used in the film Big Top Pee-Wee.
With its high ceiling and queen size bed, it is very roomy.
Amenities include a mini fridge, a sink, and heat and air conditioning.
Project Z
Finally, Project Z has a zombie apocalypse theme.
One does need to catch some sleep while dealing with zombies, after all.
Inside, you will find a kitchenette and a bathroom. This tiny accommodation includes a wood stove, ceiling fan, swamp cooler, and back porch as well.
So you may not escape the zombies, but at least you will stay comfortable and well-fed while hiding from them.
Now you’ve seen all of the cool tiny accommodations at the Hicksville Trailer Palace & Artist Retreat in Joshua Tree. This entire awesome place is powered entirely by solar energy. If you want to learn more or book a stay, visit the official site.
