Kilauea is the world’s most active volcano, located on the Big Island of Hawaii, it once erupted and covered the land in what is now dried lava and ash. The Phoenix tiny house sits on top of this ash and gives you spectacular views of the volcano while you relax four miles away in safety. The off-grid home is hosted on Airbnb by yoga-loving owners and surrounds you in comfort and peace in the middle of dramatic black lava fields. If you’re looking for a retreat to renew your mind, this tiny house may be just the place for you!
Aside from being in a unique setting, the home itself is impressive! The exterior of the multi-level home is covered in charred wood making it seem at-home in the surrounding lava field. Large windows are on all sides of the house and there are also two porches for sitting outside and enjoying the views of the smoking volcano in the distance.
Inside, the home feels massive due to the soaring ceilings and white walls. This home has plenty of room to spread out in and comes fully equipped with everything needed to enjoy your stay in Hawaii.
The living room features a comfy full-sized couch, desk, and tons of natural light streaming through the French doors and windows. The home is off-grid and somewhat unplugged but you do have electricity and wi-fi.
While the living room lacks modern conveniences such as a TV, we think the view and extra-large windows more than make up for it!
The kitchen and dining area is in the center of the home with a large staircase extending down into it for the loft. The home doesn’t have air conditioning so small fans are mounted on the walls to cool you down and the large windows can be opened to let fresh air breeze through.
The kitchen is open-concept with floating shelves, open cabinets, and a mini-fridge. It comes stocked with your essentials and dishes can be cleaned in the unique sink made out of a galvanized tub!
We may not mind washing dishes so much with a view like this!
The home’s bedroom is high in the loft with wide windows that give you spectacular views for miles. A queen-sized bed is set up as well as nightstands and a glass partition provides safety without blocking your line of sight.
Back downstairs, the bathroom is roomy with a large vanity and changing area on one side of the room featuring another galvanize sink and floating shelves and bars for linens and clothing.
There’s also a large walk-in shower with wood flooring and a flushable toilet.
With rates starting at $150 per night, we think this is an amazing retreat that promises a surreal experience for you on the Big Island of Hawaii. Be sure to check out the Airbnb listing at https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/18551788#host-profile for details and reviews.
