A frugal newlywed couple in Australia had the bright idea of transforming a garage on their family’s property into a beautiful love nest. The project ended up costing them $44,830 and gave them 538 square feet to live and work in while staying close to home. Working with a local builder, they added a new roof and worked on the frame until an adorable and bright home emerged.
Inside, the home is bright with a mostly white color scheme and plenty of windows letting natural light stream in. The floorplan is mostly open with the kitchen and living room in one large space and extra tall pitched ceilings.
The tiny house’s kitchen wraps around a wall with white subway tile as a backsplash and a long open shelf on top. Vertical storage was added by using a bar with hooks under the shelf for mugs, sponges, and other small kitchen utensils.
The bedroom has space for a full-sized bed and features the same white walls and exposed beams on the ceiling.
The bathroom has a custom sink vanity with a long slim sink and medicine cabinet above. It also features the same white subway tiles as the kitchen.
A desk area was needed and so one corner of the home was set up as a small office with a saw horse desk tucked underneath a mounted shelf.
In order to save on room inside, the couple decided to have their dining table outside on the stone terrace. This gives them plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the outdoors with guests.
We love the life this couple has made in their brand new tiny house!
